What to visit in Târgu Mureș
Targu Mures is a city in Mures county, in the Transylvania region. An alternative spelling of the city's name is Tirgu Mures, and it is often abbreviated Tg. Mures. The city was documented for the first time in 1332 under the Latin name Novum Forum Siculorum. In 1405, the Hungarian king Sigismund of Luxembourg granted the city the right to organize fairs, and in 1616 the city changed its name to Targu Mures. The city received major support in its economic and social life, when it became the home of the supreme court of justice of the Principality of Transylvania in 1754.

Targu Mures Zoo

The largest zoo in Romania, founded in 1960, in the Great Forest of Targu-Mures. It covers an area of 40 hectares and brings together 500 animals from 80 species. It includes a semi-reservation dedicated for bears and wolves, and a semi-reservation for European herbivores.

Casa Köpeczi - Teleki

The oldest building in the city. It was erected in 1554, on the initiative of Tamás Köpeczi Nagy, a high dignitary during the time of Queen Isabella (the receiver of royal revenues from Transylvania).
